I am the current weekday MMJ with CBS19 News in Charlottesville, Va.

I have a multitude of live experience in the field and behind the desk sharing the stories of Central Virginia. I find I gravitate towards breaking news, politics, and investigative pieces but also love sharing stories that bring a smile to your face.

The prosecution rests its case after their final witnesses took the stand Tuesday morning. One of those witnesses was Marlee Morgan, a student who was injured in the shooting. The defense will begin their testimony tomorrow morning.

Today the sentencing began for Christopher Darnell Jones Jr., the man who pled guilty to the fatal shooting on Grounds in November of 2022.

Multiple witnesses took the stand recounting the events of the night that left three UVA football players dead and two others injured. Court resumes tomorrow morning at 9:30 for the sentencing that could last five days.

PANIC ON GROUNDS: After an active shooter call came in around 3pm, police flooded Grounds outside of UVA’s Shannon Library this afternoon. As of 4:45pm police determined there was no signs of an attack or active threat. Here’s the live coverage from this afternoon through the very fluid situation.

EXCLUSIVE: A car crash turned nearly fatal after a 20 year old girl was trapped in a burning car. But thankfully one man was in the right place in right time. An anonymous hero named Tom happened to drive by and was able to pull Athena out.

And when I visited the crash site today, I found what was left of what looks to be a devotional. Just a reminder of how miracles really can happen and I was honored to share a piece of this story through the voices of Gina and Tom.
